Dudu Busani Dube is the writer of a series of novels known as The Hlomu series. The series of books have been turned into a popular television series called The Wife on Showmax.
Showmax is a popular online video-on-demand service in South Africa.
The Hlomu book series is not the first time her works where involved in film and television.
In twenty eighteen, producer and director Lineo Sekeleone approached Dudu Busani Dube to write an adaption of a popular film – The Zulu Wedding. The book is also entitled The Zulu Wedding.
Dudu Busani Dube Biograpghy and Career Background
Dudu Busani is a Johannesburg -based writer with a strong background in journalism, having worked for so many years for fourteen years. Dudu thinks that her graphic detailing of violence in her novels is mostly a result of the nine years she spent on reporting crime. Some of her reporting were high profile court cases.
Dudu self publishes her works. She has moved from humble beginnings, selling books off the boot of her car, to being approached by established publishers for her works.
Her books focus on what she described as “broken men and the women who try to fix them”.
She has a unique way of portraying her characters as unmasked personalities with flaws that resonates very well with the realities of day-to-day South African lifestyle. Yet her simple way of narration leaves readers wanting to stay hooked to her books till the end.

On mental health
Dudu revealed that In December twenty twenty-one, she suffered from anxiety and had to spend time in isolation at a mental institution.
Dudu also said her battle with anxiety motivated her to influence and spread the message of dealing with mental health problems.
